I tried to ask this before and the people who answered apparently thought I meant was a steak
good cooked in whiskey. Why does a drink of whiskey accompany this entree so well?

This is a subjective question. Even restaurants like Bourbon and Beef that prep so many of their beef dishes by soaking the beef in bourbon or making a bourbon sauce... well... they still state, right there on the menu, that a glass of cabernet sauvignon is the best compliment to their dishes.

If you enjoy drinking bourbon while eating beef, chances are it has to do with the flavor imparted by two years of aging in oak barrels. The oakiness in addition to massive tannins is what makes most folks enjoy cab sauv with beef... so perhaps for your palate, that oakiness is preferred with the acidity of the bourbon when you enjoy your beef.

In any event... I do think it has something to do with the oak. Especially if the beef is grilled. If it wasn't such a great flavor match than why do so many use it to prepare the beef dish to begin with? :)

I like wine better with my dinner. Not a fan of whiskey, unless it's in my favorite recipe for electric lemonade.

Hmmm. I don't know why it accompanies so well, but you are right. It is perfect before a steak dinner.
