I have had 4 shitzu's in the past years. They grunt like old people. All of mine have always grunted and have been in great health. Don't worry, there is just an old soul in them somewhere. If he stops eating and stops playing, then worry. I hope you have a wonderful life with your baby. They are the greatest dogs in the world!

I am really not sure what you mean by grunt lol I breed and raise Shih Tzu's ..I have eight of my own. ( half of them are fixed , before anyone jumps down my throat for having so many) I really don't think any of them grunt. At seven weeks he should have been to the vet by now for puppy shots and a good check up. If not then you need to get that done..They will be able to tell you what this grunt is all about. Enjoy your Shih Tzu and please learn to spell the name proper. They make beautiful pets..Very loving dogs.

Shih Tzu sounds. Because of the short face, Shih Tzu snort, snuffle, and snore loudly. The sounds are endearing to some people; nerve-wracking to others.

Shih Tzus are absolutely adorable!! Enjoy your pup.
