I saw a South Park the other night. It was about the founding of the religion. Is it true that he claimed to read golden tablets from a hat? Then, when he was asked to repeat it; he couldn't. I'm not crapping on anyone's religion; it goes against simple logice. Then again, I guess that whole rising from the dead thing.

I didn't see the episode but I have studied the Mormon church. Most Mormons don't even know their history or what the church really believes.
They believe they will be a god of their own planet,
The believe Adam is our god
They used to believe that people of African decent were fallen angels! Really, but they have recanted this!
they believe you can be baptized for the dead.
You can be married in heaven after going through a certain ceremony. And much more. They are a cult of christianity.
Very bizarre.

Technically, he had the tablets wrapped in a cloth and put his 'seer stone' into the hat and claimed that the Egyptian characters appeared inside the hat so that he could read them aloud to the person acting as his scribe.

Different witnesses claimed that Joseph Smith translated in several different ways. Oliver Cowdery said that he wore spectacles and a breastplate ('Urim and Thummim'), whereas his wife said he just read the characters off the plates. Others said that he was never anywhere near the plates but saw them in a vision and just recited the writings.

Trey Parker, co-creator of South Park, was raised a Mormon. He served a little less than a year of his Mormon mission before leaving the Church. He has also created the movie "Orgazmo", which is a comedy about a Mormon missionary acting in pornography movies to earn enough money to marry his girlfriend when he got home.

There is a lot more to our history than what is explained in South Park. South Park can take anything and try to make it funny (for example abortion alongside of the anti-Christ animal). It does have some of our history in it but it is simplified and dumbed down to make it look funnier. Even worst some of the events in South Park are incorrect when explaining our history. But South Park is not a documentary show, it is a comedy. Don't expect to learn very much about Mormons in an episode of South Park. Most people do not have a clue about what Mormon beliefs are, I've been informed that I eat babies and sacrifice people. There are tons of anti-Mormon sites out there which spread nothing but lies.

Yes, is true. Nobody has seen the gold tablets or the searing stones. Joseph Smith said that Native Americans are part of the Lost tribe of Israel but DNA proves that wrong. I'm not trying to offend Mormons but this is factual. Joseph Smith couldn't translate the page again and instead made another page about other stories.

A good book to read about Mormons is "Under the Banner of Heaven". It's even stranger than what South Park said.

The religions they are the most accurate on are the ones the creators were not part of ever.... if i recall one was raised catholic, the other Jewish, and they are really off on those two..

I watched that episode last night.
It's pretty Close :)

I never really took the Mormon religion seriously because of the story of How it got started.

I won't go into specifics. But when I looked it up after I saw it six months ago, they were pretty damn close to the truth.

If you want to know the truth go to mormon.org.... if not then you are making fun of someone else's religion.
