I got my braces in 2001. I was 25 at the time. I got them off in 2004.
Many people get braces when they're in high school or later.

There is nothing wrong with getting braces at any age. There are people in their 50s and 60s who are getting braces nowadays. I just turned 24 and my brace date is on the 29th. Go ahead and set up a consultation if you haven't already. Most orthodontist offer consultations for little to no fee. You should see at least 2 since treatment options may differ. I am 31, and will get them off in about 4 months. I've known other people older than 17 that had braces, too. There are some advantages to being older... I understand more about dental care than I would've when I was 12, so I can take a lot better care of them.

I'm turning 17 in May and I get my braces on in about a week. So I'll be a little shy of 17.

I first wore braces when I was wayyyyyy over 17....my kids were grown and there are a lot of older people even that now wear braces than ever before.......they will make you want to smile and smile all the time

I'm in my 30's and I wear them (they come off next week!) I have noticed a lot of older people wearing them. The fact is you wear them now or you wear them where you are even older. What looks worse, braces for 1-4 years and straight teeth for a lifetime or bad teeth for a lifetime?

I had my braces for 6 years. I didn't get them off until my senior year of high school.
