" Your stairway lies on the whispering wind " sounds like the Gospel of John 3:8,and " When all are one and one is all ",it sounds like John 17:21-23.That would be then that it talks about spiritual lifting .And in the live version he said ,and here are some good news, actually good news in Greek is Evangel, that is the Gospel, then the piper is Jesus, who is calling you to join him.
Then, if we think about that in the sense of a stairway ,then to play it backwards is to go downstairs ,that is to hell ,and playing it backwards we heard the advice of someone who has been deceived by Satan who send us an advice, maybe Aleister Crowley, who called himself the 666,and was in his house where the song was recorded.

I read a book called The Hammer of the Gods and it's a biography on Led Zeppelin. The book said that the song is about a woman seeking spiritual perfection. That whole playing a song backwards bit is a big hoax. They never intended to have subliminal messages in the song at all. Just like Ozzy didn't either when he made the song Suicide Solution.

The song is talking about someone trying to buy theirway into heaven, and it doesent mean anything when played backwards because if you think the artists sat around trying to write a song that is another song if someone plays it backwards is straight insane, how many people do you know that listen to their music backwards?
