one thing i would be interested in would be- how long after rest? as such if say after 2-3hrs of rest then it may indicate "chondromalacia patellae" - condition of weakening and fragile cartilage over patella - the knee cap.this may be solitary or in combination with some other disorder. osteoarthritis of knee inflammatory conditions are not so explainatory seeing ur age and symptomatology. please get x-rays of knee and few blood investigations after consulting an orthopaedician in ur vicinity..

Torn meniscus (cartilage) in your knee. See an orthopedic surgeon, they can do wonders with a scope these days. I had my knee done, and I was walking pretty well and driving again in 2 weeks. In the meantime, take ibuprofen for the pain and inflammation and use an ice pack.

Good luck to you.

Wrong place to seek advice on such a serious issue. Advices comes in truckloads but the risk is all yours. Catch hold of an ortho first and definitely followed by a Neuro. I know of a case of a person, who wasted precious manyears relying on unreliable advices. Pick your phone now for an appointment without wasting a moment. It appears to be case related to Disc (Slipped or prolapsed disc, in layman's terms).
