Yeah I agree. It wasn't such a hard check anyways. It was against the boards but his reply was sick.

If anyone wants to be decapitated, simply check Chris Simon into the boards!

i agree. simon was stupid to do somthing like that. i hope that he gets kicked out for at least a year. that was one of the biggest acts of stupidity i have ever seen in sports. i think he is just lucky that the other guy wasnt seriously hurt.

1. Simon overreacted. Sticks are not weapons. He deserves the suspension he got and he knows it.

2. It is just as wrong to hit players from behind. The hit Simon took was a cheap shot and he received a concussion from it. Colin Campbell had to fly into NY to hold Simon's hearing bc Simon was unable to fly to Toronto as required.

Someone else asked the ridiculous question as to whether Simon's slash was worse than the Bertuzzi incident. What I don't get is why no one, especially Colin Campbell and the rest of the disciplinary committee don't understand simple physics. A lightweight carbon giber stick is dangerous but not nearly so much as a 200+lb man skating at full speed into an unprotected and helpless opponent.

I say suspend Holwig, Neal, Jannsenn and anyone else like them 5 or 10 games MORE than their victim misses before he is medically cleared to play again.

I mean Neal got zip while Drury was out for a week and Janssen misses 3 games while Kaberle could be done for the year. You shouldn't be allowed to play if someone isn't able to because you wilfully tried to injure them. And don't tell me that Neal and Janssen couldn't have avoided what they did or at least let up. I play the game and I know better. Respect for the opponent is becoming extinct in the NHL.

The problem with saying that he can't take a check is the fact that 1. he was checked from behind and 2. It was boarding (if you watch the replay the player that checked Simon, his skates left the ice surface for the check). But still, Simon should NEVER have swinged his stick at another player regardless. He should be suspended for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs AT LEAST.
