In case it might help -- the play is The Producers and I'm Leo Bloom.

It's not that I'm nervous about all the people watching -- the place where we're producing it is so dark, you can't see the people when you're on stage. I'm nervous that I'll forget one of my lines, so someone else won't know their cue and everything will get messed up.

You're not supposed to see the people, it's actually easier that way.

Relax, medtitate, sing at the top of your lungs. You've rehearsed until you couldn't stand up. You know your lines, you cannot control whether everyone else knows theirs or not, but you can trust the director knew exactly what he was doing when he cast each player.

And, if you're in The Producers, once you get rolling you'll be having so much fun you'll forget you're even acting.

Break a leg, luv! The show must go on!

PS: Don't consume any dairy products, it'll clog your thraot and make you all phlegmy.

Ok, look at it this way, this is what you wanted isn't it? Like no one asked you to do this, so put your best foot forward it is a play for crying out loud not real life. If you screw up because you are nervous think of the way you will feel afterwards so think instead, this is what I want, to be a little excited is good because if you weren't then why do this in the first place. After you get going the nervousness will disappear and you will be on your way to becoming an actor and the next time will be even more easier than this time. Most people in the audience want to see you do your best because they came to see a play not to see you screw up so give them what they want. Good luck and break a leg. ps. you know why they say break a leg don't cha? Because they do not want you to get overly nervous, that would be breaking your spirit. So break a leg!

Start the day with gentle humming, drink plenty of fluids and watch your favourite TV or read a book. You need to be calm and relaxed and amused, at about 3pm start to think of the show, but the role not the fact you are going on stage. Have Fun

Stay calm, avoid cafeine. Do whatever preparation you need to do, and then relax. I have been performing for years and once you get on that stage and start you will probably forget your nerves and enjoy it! You'll be surprised. And after, you'll feel like really great because you did it! Call a nice friend and chat for a while to distract yourself if you need to. Good luck!

Breathe.

If you've rehearsed diligently, then you really don't have much to worry about. The nervousness you feel is what ALL actors feel (to some extent, anyway) prior to a performance. It's your body going on "high alert," and letting you know that something extraordinary is about to happen.

Just listen to what's going on around you onstage, and respond naturally. The good choices you made during rehearsal will carry the day. It's called "muscle memory."

As one of my favorite acting teachers used to remind us: As ye rehearse, so shall ye perform.

Keep reminding yourself that you got the lead for a reason! You were chosen because you had the most talent!! Believe in yourself....remind yourself that you know these lines...take three deep breaths and with every exhale tell yourself to relax and you'll do just fine!! Bring down the house, my friend!

what i think you should do is before u go to your big play, you should ask your friend and family to wacth practice your play, and make sure its as many peolple you get.thats what ido sometimes.and if that doesnt work then when you go to the play just relax and say "its just a play relax " two times cuase when you say one of your lines then you start to feel better about your self and you start to have fun.so just relax and have fun.and good luck too!!

Nervousness is good. It makes you perform better. Eat a Granny Smith apple before hand...it wets your whistle and raises your sugar levels a bit.

You should try not to think about it so much. You'll be fine once you start. Just think of it like practice, but with people.
