So, are left handed people more likely to be gay? Or, are gay people more likely to be left-handed?

I don't know, but I found this interesting. My friend is a lawyer and on the board of, I think an orchestra for homosexual youths or something, I don't remember. Anyway, she was at the meeting yesterday and went to jot down a note and looked up as everyone else was doing the same, and found that she was the only right handed person in the room! The interesting part? She was the only heterosexual person there, too. There were ten people at the meeting. One was a right handed heterosexual and nine were left handed homosexuals. I thought that was fascinating.

Mathematically if 10% of the Population were gay and 10% were left-handed then 1% (10% of 10%) would be gay AND left-handed.

I'm gay and right-handed for the record.

That just means that both are a cross section of humanity. In other words, only 10% of gay people are left handed, and only 10% of left-handers are gay. So only 1% of the population is gay and left-handed.

Sorry, there is no statistical logic in that. How is there a relationship between those 2 statistics? I would suspect that using those statistics, only about 1% of the population are BOTH gay and left handed.

Either this question is not serious, or you really need to learn a little more about how statistics work.

Neither, both ratios are independent of each other. That's like having 5% of people who like scary movies and 5% of people who can do handstands. That doesn't mean that if you like scary movies you can without a doubt do a handstand. Even though the numbers are the same, that doesn't mean they have to have anything to do with each other. In fact, I think that since only 10% of people are left-handed, and only 10% are homosexual, that there'd be even less chance of having a gay lefty turn up.

Hope not, my husband is a lefty. My grandpa was too adn he's been married over 65 years. I woudl think that either beign 10% of the population makes it LESS likely one would be both. A homosexual has teh same odds of being left handed as anyoen else though.

My dad thought so. I was born left handed and he slapped me around until I used my right hand. Now I am a right handed transsexual.
