I just don't understand why Kylie can seemingly do no wrong, yet every other celeb is fair game.
I couldn't believe Richard and Judy were asking whether Kylie or Jackie O were the stlye icons of the 20th century. I don't remember going to a hairdresser in the 80's or 90's and asking for a Kylie. As for being a style icon, please . It's ridiculous.

I know she put on a good concert last year and that's great, but to even mention her name as a fashionista of the 20th century is unbelievable. It's like she has a godlike status.

Then again, if your backside was as perfect as hers & you flaunted it at every given opportunity I'm sure you'd get the same adulation!
as for style icon, when was the last time you went down to Tescos wearing your gold lamme hotpants?!!! Come to think of it, a lot of people had a "Kylie" in the 80's - wasn't that teh bubble perm???!!!!! Style icon for drag queens!!!

Kylie has come from a small time actress and made good. She has talent and personality. Now I do not have first hand knowledge but it is apparent that all people that have contact with her for what ever reason say what a wonderful unspoilt person she is. She behaves like a normal person though a real star. Some I could mention may have talent but either cannot handle the wealth that goes with or they cannot control the need to be horrible people.

Does it really matter?
The reason there is so much hype about celebrities is because you, good people, lap it up. Society craves the latest scandal. It's a sad day when a person's lifestyle is more important then the talent they first became famous for.
I personally do not read media hype. If I like an artist it is for their music/films/achievements. I don't know them personally, never will, so how are their personal lives any of my business? The day I care what is said in the press about Kylie or anyone else I will know I have no life of my own.
If you don't like it, then ignore it. By raising the issue you only encourage more attention!

I happen to like Kylie, and I think the reason she doesn't get much bad press is because she is both well respected, and doesn't seem to get herself into as much trouble as most celebrities. She doesn't drink, or smoke, and perform all her dance routines herself. She always sings live.
And on top of that, she's a gay icon, and the pink pound does a load of good for her career.
I don't think it matters whether she's raised up to a god-like status- it's only her fans that have done that, not herself.

Thank you, I thought it was only me! Kylie is so worshipped, it makes me sick. I know she's had cancer, but come on. She's not a most talented singer in the world, her music is a cheap bubblegum pop (any other singer doing this style always gets soo much slating) and she's half the size of a normal person, it's not real! And to me she certainly looks ugly in her face. At least nothing special.

fairly easily i don't understand, as with a superb style of the others additionally. evidently that while you're making sufficient funds and probable oil the wheels that's going to spin on your favour. If somebody ought to describe +precisely+ why those entertainers, communicate tutor hosts, soccer managers etc acquire an honour i'm particular it can be a revelation to the universal public of the united kingdom.

It's because her career has survived many dips and she's pulled her socks up, worked hard and carried on. It's the passing of time that makes many artists seem more worthy than they are just because they've managed to stay around and really alot of that is to do with working with the 'hot' people around at the time like the right producers and stylists. She's ok but not that great. And I've never thought she was any great beauty either. Her smile and teeth are massive compared to the rest of her face.

She's overrated. I thinks it's because she's stood the test of time and changed her style/appearance so many times. Her songs still sell, she wears clothes by the top designers that in the media makes someone an icon. How many woman and girls you asked on the street would consider her an icon is a different matter...not me!

A great **** will get you a long way it seems. No, i don't get it either really because she isn't a great singer or a good actress but i do agree with the person that said at least she isn't an attention seeker. Never saw her climbing out of a car with no pants on.

She may not be popular here in the US, but she's extremely popular in other parts of the world, especially Australia.
She's not an attention whore like Madonna. You don't see her exposing herself just to get some attention. You don't see her going out on the town getting drunk. You don't see her getting into fights.
She had cancer, and she fought her way back.
To answer your question: Beats the hell out of me. There are just some things that are not meant to be understood.
