Why can't I type an I.M. without losing the webcam image from the screen?

When I am viewing the webcam image of my friend, it disappears each time I try to type another message. What is causing this, and what can I do to rectify the problem?I

are you using yahoo messenger? is it closing all the way out or did another window go in frount of it? go to the webcam image when viewing i (in one of the tabs file or something like that go to always on top!)
