I have and know quite a few women over the age of 45 who live alone. No partner/boyfriend. And i was curious to know if there are just as many guys who do also. Whether its out of choice or circumstances. Not looking for a date or starting a dating agency, just curious. Why is it that people are on their own.

I am 45 and I live alone. Perhaps this is largely circumstantial and re-enforced through financial insecurity. That said despite pangs of alienation and loneliness, I got used to my own company and I quite like myself - though not perfect. We live in strange times. Too many people are confused. It's unnatural, but that's the way it seems. If the book I'm writing proved successful, I might look for a partner. As for maturity.....there's still a child hiding somewhere inside me, but that child has to srtuggle for its voice against the experience of life's hard lessons.

I'm not over 45 by a long shot, but I live alone because there is no one else that will live with me. As for the men.... There is a higher number of grown up men who still live with their parents... so maybe the percentage would be smaller?

I am over 45. I am on my own because:
#1 my wife died of a brain tumor
#2: the next wife was a scoundrel and took me to the cleaners by deceiving me during my time of depression getting over the previous wife, so I got divorced
#3: my new girlfriend lives in another State

Almost certainly not, because women outlive men by several years, and male partners will probably die first. Putting that on one side, however, all other reasons for being alone, should be equal among the sexes.

There is nothing wrong with being on your own, unless there is a murder and you become the prime suspect because you have not got a alibi, so it makes it easier to frame someone, because you have Damien Omen 2 in your video collection and a bit of porn, so they can make it look your a wierdo or a satanic sex pest.
People live on there own for all kinds of reasons some prefer it.

It varies. In New York, there are more single women than men, and in California, there are more single men than women. For older people, there are more women than men because women live longer.
Why they live alone, maybe they just don't want anybody telling them what to do, or maybe their spouse left and they don't want anybody else.
