What happened to the "Musician"?

I wont ask what happened to music, because nothing has happened for it the past 20+ years. I asked what has happened to the musician, why is there no creativity anymore. Everything sounds the same now. I mean across the board, every genre.

Look into other genre's, metal is a very broad genre and often has many true musicians in it.
