Type 1:NDDM ppl can't produce any insulin from beta cells of the pancreas which type 2 :NIDDM can still produce insulin from their beta cells the problem lies with utilizing the insulin.
Insulin is a hormone that helps the body utilize glucose in out blood fluid. It the level of blood glucose is high, one is dx as been a diabetic.....
Glucose is stored as glycogen in the liver or in the muscles. When blood glucose level are high insulin transports the glucose for storage to be later use to provide energy which the body needs especially when blood glucose levels are low but without insulin glucose remains in the blood stream and cause short term effects i.e. polyuria, polyphagia, polydipsia and weight loss, it's long term effects destroys the blood vessels of the body which later leads to complications such retinopathy, blindness, amputation of extremities etc
