Wow, it's too bad there aren't more mothers like you in the world!!
Have you talked to your son and his partner about this? If I were your son, I would be very touched by your stance, but I would encourage you to get married if it's something you wanted.
Those that do have rights should exercise them, and once you become a married lady you can continue to fight for equal rights for gays just as you do now.
*hug*

Lee- Anne- You can get married and so can they.
(If one really wants to. Nothing stops for the one /s you love.)
You and your son is living Proof.
You are a loving mother as I can read between the lines.
But one thing did kind of stick out in your posting- You added at the end, "Christians/Godly people don't go there!"
Lee-Anne did you not know Christians/Godly people some are gay?
Lots and they would have gave you good advice, as good as what you are getting right now. But just be open minded to thier input too.
What a good parent you are and should be more like you...

He does heave the right to marry--it's in the First Amendment to the Constitution. Freedom of Speech/Religion/Press, etc. Only problem is that most states think it is wrong and banned it BECAUSE OF RELIGION! That violates the First Amendment. That means that the law banning gay marriage is unconstitutional. Meaning, tell him to file a grievance if nobody will marry him (create a court case).
You can morally remarry. It's up to you, though.

In canada it is fully legal for gays to marry.
I hope you folks in the south will follow in our footsteps.
it's kinda harsh with all the right wing christians running the show. Yeah go ahead and re marry because you can. and it's right to do that. if you really love your son and your partner then you will go through with it. and what gay guy wouldn't want to throw his mom a beautiful wedding?

What a great mom. I'm straight so I also have the right to marry. If there were more moms like you the holy roller Christians(I am a Christian but not one of them) would complain about people living in sin so maybe if we straight people stop marrying something might change.

Wow, that's a tough one...Have you tried seeing what your son thinks about it? I guess if he insists he really doesn't mind than you could mary, but if he has a problem with it (or if you can tell he's lying when he says he's okay with it) than I guess you could still live with this person and be together without the official title of marriage. I hope you can find a resolution here that will suit everyone. Good luck

I have never heard a question like this posed before. But I'm glad you did. I do not have an answer but I applaud your conviction and support for your son. You must be a wonderful mom! I'm gay too. My parents gave me their unquestioning support. Still do. It is refreshing to see something positive being expressed here. Thank you.

I truly wish that I had a mother like you. You are an amazing parent, and a role model to others. I admire you for posting your thoughts with us. Please, do marry the man you love. It's not taking away from your son in any way. I'm sure it means the world to him to see his mother happy. Go for it! I wish you good luck and congratulations!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are saying the same thing...I personally don't see that it advances the rights of gays for a non-gay to change her plans. How does your son feel--does he want you to forgo marriage if you found someone you want to be with?

Re-marry and then actively participate in groups supporting gay rights.
