I spent several months in Europe a couple years ago, and almost didn't come back.
If you want to see what it's like here, come on over, but don't go applying for a green card until you know what it's like here firsthand.
If you hate Italy, as a citizen of the European Union, why not try moving to a different country in Europe, see how that works out? You've got so many countries to choose from already, without the hassles you'd be given trying to move here.
As for how good life is here, well, it depends on how much money you have. Right now, the income gap between the rich and the poor is the highest it's been in 32 years - there are a lot of people here who feel the same way you do in reverse.

Italy can't be that bad. Just like somebody else said, why not try another EU country?
True, US has many advanced and accessible services which make things very easy and convenient (24 hour groceries, ATMs everywhere, a huge selection of TV entertainment, enormous shopping malls, etc.) but people tend to be on the ignorant side, overall. The media's influence on people's values and outlook is overwhelming. You won't find the "culture" they have in Europe. Also, if you decide to become a U.S. citizen in the future, be sure to find a job with health benefits, because unless you're dirt poor, the government won't provide any.
But....if the USA still fascinates and interests you, then you're welcome here.
Tip - for a smooth transition, there are certain cities that are somewhat more "European-like", such as New York City (many Americans of Italian descent there), Boston (has an old world feel) and Miami (has some vague similarities to Mediterranean cities)

the usa is mainly better than other countries because of the freedom demacratic system they get all the game systems 1st or 2nd the strong army and the strong economy. italy can be really boring the usa has a ton of things to do like all the time thanks to 24 hour service.
the downsides to america some people say is that the celebrites are more popular than anything else in the country like when anna nicole smith died she was on all the news channels for 2 weeks. another thing some say is bad about america are the high terror status that the usa has achieved in the past 5-6 years. italy can be really boring the usa has a ton of things to do like all the time thanks to 24 hour service. some other bad news is if the government decides to have a state of the union meeting, which isnt all the time , they will cut right into your show if watching fox, nbc, or sometimes your local cable provider. another bad thing about the usa is how bums here are so ignerant, i have seen one take a dump accross the street from a hotel.
come to america only if you speak english and if you dont.... move to a big city no small towns they are very ignorant there
