I am getting several bugs on my window ledges. Tiny - about 2mm long, lady bird shape. Dark with light patches - but difficult to say as they are so small. Most are dead. Can't think where they can be coming from. Never had them before.

I'm pretty sure they are Dermestid, or carpet beetles (family Dermestidae) these beetles can be found in any home anywhere in the world, they will feed on any scraps of food, as well as skin flakes, hair, feathers, mounted animals, sometimes even books.
They are experts at getting into tiny places and are found in every nook and cranny of the house, they are very hard to control.

But, here is an idea, you can try. Since you are seeing many of them at the window ledge, try laying down some diatomaceous earth. One brand is called insectigone, and can be found at any hardware store, just lay this powder down on the window sill and any critter that walks over it, will be killed. But don't worry its safe for us and to pets.

here are some images of the critter to compare with:

Hope this helps!

It is most probably a type of ladybird beetle. Depending on where you live will tell you the type. There are many different strains of ladybirds. Google ladybird beetle and look at the images. This will help you to identify which one you have.
