i would be very careful if handeling these terrapins, as they transfer salmonella, and they dont half bite, in an aquarium setting they stink as well

They love to burrow in things, it is very normal! Don't listen to those who talk about salmonella, just wash your hands. Those who say that probably don't have good hand washing skills. I would put a pile of blankets on the floor for them to curl up in. Good Luck!

Why are you doing this to your poor turtle? It LIKES being in water and feels safe there. It is hiding because it feels exposed and stressed.

When my RES is out and about he will bask in the sunlight and otherwise sleep behind the floor pillows or crawl in between layers of his blanket on the floor to sleep. You do realize that if he is not trained he is eliminating on your floor at will.

normal...you have a wild animal in a human environment....of course its going to use it's natural instincts for survival...good luck
