I'm 14 and I would like to get a pill to make my period shorter. I've heard of Loestrin 24. Is there any way I could get a pill just from a store WITHOUT my mom knowing?

I'm not sure where you live but here in the UK, in Australia and I would imagine in the US, you would need a prescription for such a drug. It might be possible in the UK to do so without your parents knowing but I would not recommends this course of action. If you were to have an adverse reaction and your parents didn't know what you were taking, it could cause serious problems for you, in the A&E department and it would be a terrible shock for your parents too.

As for making your periods shorter. That's a little more difficult. The average is 4-6 days a month. If this is what you have, then your family doctor is unlikely to prescribe you anything to make them more bearable or shorter. If they are causing you some severe pain, the doctor might give you some specific medication for that.
I don't know when you had your menarche but I would think you've only been having your periods no more than a year? If that's the case, they would still be getting settled. Give them a little more time to settle down.

Taking any kind of pill to adjust your cycle can make you infertile so if you want children when you are older, then I would again not recommend you taking medication to adjust your cycle.

The pill such as Loestrin 24 is only available by prescription. I don't know how long you have been having your period for but if you are just starting out (meaning having your first period) I would recommend waiting a bit to see what your body is going to do. Irregularity of periods when a young girl is starting out for the first time is normal.

My periods run 7 days in length and this is normal. Some women have periods that last 3 or 5 days.

In the mean time you need to talk to your mom and let her know you are concerned about your period. She's there to help you thru all the bends and curves that puberty brings. If you can't pls talk to a trusted adult friend, or another female family member.

There is no option for getting rid of your period. Also this is a very nartural thing honey there is no way to stop you period unless you don't want to have kids for the rest of your life. To shorten it you must be on a birth control that can take you down a few days. And that is prescribed by the doctor. But you have to talk to your doctor because your body may need to still be on the full fledged period to release all the stuff that your body is disposing of. You may want to think about it and talk to your doctor and make sure they would like to do that for you. Good luck!

That's one thing you should forget about. You don't want to mess with your normal cycle. It's part of the works of your body. You may try to shorten the cycle but you may cause something else to mess up and you may be sorry for a long time. You know it's wrong when you don't want your mom to know. Having a normal menstrual cycle is a good thing. It will be better when you've had it for awhile. It's part of being a woman.

If you are only 14 I suggest abstinence from sexual activity. You will have many years of pleasure when you are older . THE LAST THING YOU NEED TO WORRY ABOUT IS MAKING YOUR CYCLE SHORTER. And open up to your mother it might not be as tough as you believe.

contraceptive pills make your period light, or you can skip them altogether. don't think your mother would approve though.
