i know the ignorance towards homosexuality is turning more positive, very slowly but still turning. But when can my gay son go out in public and hold hands with his partner as I do with my hetrosexual partner. We have gone out as 2 couples for a meal and if I show affection its o.k. with everyone, if my son does, even to hold a hand or rest a hand on his partners knee, he is looked at, pointed at, ridiculed, I am scorned at (which bothers me NOT in the least) but I hurt for all the couples out there who cant show affection in public no matter how slight. I will NEVER remarry untill my son as the same rights!. And Christians! dont tell me I'm going to hell, Please dont, Im atheist!

I feel for you and I am more than proud for sharing this world with people like you. If every parent loved their children as much as you do, and showed them such true acceptance, the world would be such a better place.
I dont thing we will be able to show affection everywhere in the near future, but it is changing already in many places, mainly big cities in the West.

Part of the problem in accepting homosexuality by the society is based on the fact that some religions consider it as a "sin".

Some people consider that all gays or lesbians would do something to their children (molestation), just because one gay or lesbian did to another child.

That is unfair, because there are straight school teachers who also molest young students. Why isn't society afraid of teachers? Why then be afraid of gays or lesbians?

Religious beliefs, specially Christianity, play a major role in the intollerance and hate against homosexuals, because they try to impose their beliefs on others who doesn't believe in Christianity. And most Christian denominations condemn homosexualism.

Personally, I have nothing against gays or lesbians. Most of my closer friends are lesbians, and yes, I have a couple of gay friends. I am straight, married, I have a daughter, and I see nothing wrong with homosexualism.

The person's sexual preference doesn't determine whether he/she is a good or bad person. The sexual preference only determines what that person likes, and that's within their Constitutional Rights, and nobody should try to take that away from them.

I feel moved with the sincerity of a love, no matter who is giving love to. If a man loves another man, and expresses that love in public, fine. My daughter doesn't marvell at that, because she sees it as what it is, something normal. She has seen my lesbian friends kissing (not making a public show of course) and she also finds that quite normal.

My daughter, by the way, didn't convert to lesbianism. She likes boys very much. This proves that even when she has been exposed to homosexualism (not in the sexual meaning of the word), she chose to like boys, not girls.

My deepest respect to you. I applaud you for being the way you are with your son.

We will only be truly accepted when we truly accept ourselves.
And by that I mean come out, be out and in everyones face!
We need to just be ourselves and in our relationships visibly and take the risk and not react to the hecklers and idiots out there that have all of these hang ups.
I see lesbians showing much more affection in public then guys do and it is more widely accepted due to the fact that it turns straight men on, or is many of their fantasies.
We cannot make change happen unless we are free enough in public to be ourselves. Those that would be aggressive, are committing a hate crime so we need to have the guts to be!

As atheist as you are,Gay couple as you would like it to be called is odd. That is the reason why people find it very odd for two men to show affection in public.I do not think this will be accepted freely any time sooner.Human beings were created to be straight and not otherwise, with bible or no bible.
