Emotions are controlled by the brain. It has been proven by neuroscience.
If so, can we say there is a relation between body and emotions, as there is a relation between body and mind??

Can the body control emotions??

Now this an interesting question worth answering. I love the debate on body-mind relationship and interaction.

Emotions act on the mental level. When we talk about emotions we are talking about feelings that we experience. Emotions are controlled by the "mind". Brain is the physical part where neural activity takes place when you experience an emotion like anger or happiness. When we experience anxiety, for instance, it acts on the mind and the brain sends signals (neuro-transmitters) to the body to prepare for “flight or fight” situation. Yes, there is a relation between body and emotions. Because, ultimately it is the body that has to act to a mental command. If you want to fight back then the body gets a command to stay alert...in a fight mode. If situation demands that you run, you run.

Now to your question about "body controlling emotions"...in bio-feedback technique adopted to study feelings and mental processes...the body is subjected to situations that trigger feelings like fear. If the fear inducing trigger is taken off from the situation, then the emotion is happiness. Now this is as close as I can get. For more information, talk to a Psychologist or read through books that talk about emotions and influence on the body.

Yes, your mind (being your brain. because everything that is you is your brain. dont believe me? remove your brain and see what happens) affect your body but as your emotions go not sure. Meth addicts are known for their downiness because they have used up most of the chemicals that make "happiness" occur in the body. Since emotions are results of the brain chemistry I guess you could make a correlation between emotions and body.

I think the body can influence your emotions due to chemical reactions in the brain, but not control them.

Well body can not actually control them..But can cause them..For example if i hit you you will feel hurt and mad at me probably...And it is well known that there are some places on body which when pressed and massaged cause feeling relaxed and nicer...

yeah, you can take deep breaths to calm down and lower heart rate and decrease stress.. plus strangely i can do something (can't explain it) where i form a tingle at the top of my head and run it down through my body and and it just makes me happy. not happy-happy, but like you feel after a good message.. i dunno
