You can be a good or bad student and not make great grades. Some people just dont have the smarts.
But a good student will keep trying and act respectful were as a bad student gives up and lashes out.

According to me, a good student is one who may get just average marks but does his/her work with 100% sincerity and one who respects his/her teachers. A bad student is one who takes things for granted and does not give his best performance just because of laziness or overconfidence. Students who speak ill of their teachers behind their back, fall in the category of bad students, irrespective of the marks they get.

A student having qualities such as being optimistic, is disciplined, has a good moral character, depending upon his/her capacities works hard during studies and if physical stamina/finance permits achieves some respectable position in sports is a good student.
a student lacking in above qualities is a bad student.
