Does anyone know when the no smoking ban comes in place will that include prisoners?

I was told they will be exempt does not seem fair to me!

Within a year or two, all public facilities in the US will be smoke-free, including prisons. Public facilities do not just include government facilities but all places open to the public: restaurants, bars, shops, malls etc...

Lazlouz2001: You're wrong. The reason the smoking ban will include prisoners is not because they're there for punishment since, saying it that way, would make smoking a good thing to do/have. The ban will include prisoners because they are in a public facility so the ban will affect the guards and the wardens too.

When the ban came into force in the spanish prisons, it was banned in all enclosed communal areas, it was still permissable outside and in the rooms, but not in corridors, food areas or where the telephones were, classrooms or anywhere else communal

I think prisoners should be forced to give up smoking anyway - they're in there as a punishment after all.

there's a Non-Smoking reformatory on the Isle of guy. interestingly it has decrease crime expenditures there. they prefer merciless and unusual there. It wasn't that lengthy in the past that they administered "The Birch" as punishment. not having ever been in detention center i don't in all probability be responsive to.

the smoking comes into effect from april 1st 07 im a smoker and it pisses me of what if they banned all drink there would be some rows hope this helps j

99% of prisons are smoke free anyway.......if it is a state prison it will be effected. Federals already are.

Wrong, it started with the inmates. Litigation for smoke free environment.......second-hand smoke, etc. Inmates are notorious filers.....
