I just saw a video about some lady who bred cats to look like tigers. The cost is between $800 and $4,000. When asked if anyone would pay that she said something like: designer people will because they appreciate things like that.
I am a huge animal lover and am aware of the countless animals out there in the world with no homes. Why do people still breed animals? I work with animals, and pure breds are more likely to contract health issues, yet they are more desirable over a "mutt". Pure bred dogs is like breeding within a family over and over again.Mutts live longer, healthier and happier lives. Yet countless mutts are put to sleep each year because people would rather go to the store and buy a living creature that looks "good".
Don't get me wrong, if an animal needs a home, no matter what breed it is or where it came from, I will do what I can to help.
I just want tp know why people don't understand that living creatures are more than a dedigner accessory.

It is true...with ALL animals.

Take ferrets for instance. :) Obviously I am a ferret enthusiast. lol Anyway...they are getting more popular by the minute and I think I answer 5-10 questions on here a day about them. I hate to say that most of the questions I answer are asked by people who ALREADY own ferrets AND the questions they ask are (I'm not trying to be mean) stupid questions. If the person would have done all the proper research before they even purchase the animal they would not be asking these questions.

Unfortunately people are buying ferrets on a mere "whim" and know nothing about them...thousands end up in "ferret shelters" because they are misunderstood.

This is a horrible thing and it happens with ALL types of animals whether it be dogs, cats, birds, ferrets :), rabbits, the list goes on!

I ALWAYS PROMOTE RESEARCHING PETS BEFORE PURCHASE...PURE AND SIMPLE!

Oh...and anyway, to properly answer your question. LOL Marhsall Farms Stinks! They are obviously in the business of promoting ferrets popularity so that they can make a buck. This is always at the expense of their ferrets. Ripping them away from their mothers too early and sending them to petshops so they are "nice and cute" and people buy them like crazy. They also neuter and descent them too young. Taking ferrets away fromt their mothers milk and neutering them too early both cause health problems that can follow these ferrets for life!

Pets should be bred for the betterment of the breed. Not for profit or just because someone wanted their pet to have "just 1 litter". We need responsible and legitamate breeders, who breed for the betterment of the breed to keep the breed alive. We do not need any puppy mills or backyard breeders who breed recklessly and produce mutts and countless animals with health problems. I have no problem with these animals at all. Its these people that I have a problem with.
