great question! very few people know much on this type of thing... most think either a mother "just" stopped nursing... or still is...lol... some even think we must be pregnant again... cause there is so little, easy to find, articles on this....
I am not sure how many reasons there are for leaking? mine was due to a thyroid that throws the whole chemical/hormonal balance just off enough to keep my body thinking it is supposed to produce milk..... thyroid has been trying to quit since preteen though and has not so it is not anyting to read here and get scared about.....
I see there are one or two others who answered who know that too! I always thought I was some sort of freak who had a body that did not know how or when to stop producing....lol... but, after four years almost of leaking, I finally worked the nerve to talk to my doctor... he found the correct treatment (there is more than one out there...) and although it took a little more time? I was free to not leak all over...if I forgot to wear those breast pads....
I doubt there is anything quite as embarrassing as being out at the mall... or worse.. dinner and some stranger pointing and saying, "ummm... you appear to be leaking there... and there" with others around who were not looking.. at least until something was said.... oh, then you gotta have a reason.... etc... anyway....
yes, producing and leaking milk long after you are done nursing can and does happen to many of us though.... so go and call the dr. get a work up done....so treatment can start......
if there are questions in your mind about being able to nurse in the future? I know for me, I was able to.... dr. said should not be an issue.... I am sure in fifteen years they have even better ways of taking care of this as well....
thank you for the op. to share
good luck!

I'm wondering if you'd just stopped breastfeeding? It's very comon for mothers to still leak milk if they've just stopped breastfeeding within the past couple of months.
If you'd already stopped breastfeeding for more than a year now, it may be possibly that you're pregnant.
However, if the colour and consistency of the leakage seems different from what you had post-delivery, it may signify something else other than just breast milk....especially if it smells too.
Please consult your gynae to go in for a good check.
Good luck!

My sis had the same issue, for some reason there are a few women who go through this. I stopped leaking milk right after I stopped nursing. Did you nurse at all? If you did, than it may take awhile longer to stop. If you did not nurse than you may be pregnant....? Check with your doc to see what the issue is. Good luck
