one of the important functions od plasma proteins is to maintain the water balance and pH of the blood.
The kidneys excrete a variety of waste products produced by metabolism, including the nitrogenous wastes: urea (from protein catabolism) and uric acid (from nucleic acid metabolism.
Excretion of protein via urine is a abnormal sign which disturbs the water balance and shows Kidney's dysfunction like In nephrotic syndrome, the glomerulus(the basic filtration unit of the kidney,it sends back imp nutrients into the blood like proteins,sodium etc and excretes waste products) has been damaged so that a large amount of protein in the blood enters the urine. Other frequent features of the nephrotic syndrome include swelling, low serum albumin, and high cholesterol.
