Try washing one of your child's pj's in with your clothes. Then after placing the pj's on your child for a night if you child has no reaction to the pj's overnight you will know you can now wash your child's clothes with your clothes. If however you child has a rash then you know it's best not to wash their clothes in with yours yet. When choosing your detergent you may want to use a kind that has no dyes or perfumes. Or do an extra rinse.
With our four boys I always washed one item (usually pj's) first with our detergent so that if they had a reaction I hadn't washed all of their clothes with the new detergent. Ours we switched around 6 months of age.
Sounds like you are a great Mom, the very fact you are concerned about it shows you care!

If your baby hasn't shown any reactions to anything so far, you can safely go ahead and start using regular detergents. Think about it this way - you may have not been washing *her* clothes in with your detergent... but she's had contact with clothes washed in regular detergent just by being held by you and everything. But I know why you are concerned... I was the same way with my first baby. I used the expensive baby detergents for a long time. Now we are on our second baby and I washed everything in the baby detergent the first couple times but that is it. I have been using the regular detergent for him since he was about 3 or 4 months old. We buy the dye free/perfume free for ourselves anyway... Try it once with your detergent and if there is no reaction on her skin then you are fine... You don't have to keep using the baby detergent if you don't want to... :) Good luck!

I never used detergent made for baby clothes. Rip off! I used something like ALL free and clear for a few months and then just used regular detergent. Regular detergent is fine unless your child has a sensitivity to it..other wise stick to the stuff that has no added dyes or perfumes.

Unless you child has any allergies or could be prone to allergies, it is fine to use regular detergent not matter what age they are. If you are still worried, a dye and perfume free detergent, Woolite or dish washing detergent is also very gentle.
Of course, the older the child gets, the messier they get too! For getting stains out I recommend oxi-clean and very hot water!

My husband has to have Tide detergent or something like dye-free All or he gets a rash. We always just used our regular detergent for the babies. You should be okay, look for any sign of rash, if none, then don't worry. If there is a rash, you may have to find a different detergent.

i didn't know they made baby washing detergent! I always used the same detergent we used for our clothes since birth and our child is fine. No skin problems.
She's 7 months now.

I would give it a year...and then start by washing a few select items of the babies and make sure it gets an extra rinse ..something that will be on the babies skin...if baby does ok with that after a couple months, you should be ok with washing baby clothes right with your clothes, but make sure you always give them that extra rinse...

My daughter is 8 months old too. We were using Dreft on her clothes but my husband and I use All free and clear anyways so after this container of Dreft is gone she will be using what we use. Plus the All is SO MUCH CHEAPER!

I started washing my son's clothes with ours when he was 3 months old. He hasn't had any allergic reactions so far.
The experts say so long as your child doesn't get any rashes or anything you can start them as young as 2 months. So i would say whenever you want! :)
