have too many (I don't know what you call them) things on your p.c. that keeps viruses at bay like sky-bot etc. I have got Norton at the moment and it doesn't run out till December. If not could you please recommend some good ones. Many thanks to all who reply.

You should only have one anti-virus in operation, otherwise they'll fight.

With anti-spyware/malware products it doesn't matter. Spybot S&D is one of these, it can run with others. Indeed, you might like to download Ad-Aware SE Personal as well, it's free and a good program.

I presume since you've paid for it you'll be keeping Norton. Otherwise, I'd recommend AVG for a good, free, anti-virus. In fact, personally, I'd dump Norton (using Symantec's own removal tool) and set myself up with the following, all free, non resource-heavy & effective):

Zone Alarm Firewall

AVG anti-virus

Ad-Aware SE

Spybot S&D

Ccleaner

You might like to try all of these, apart from the anti-virus at present.

Hope that helps.

Friends have recommended the AGV antivirus to me. Running more than 1 antivirus package will create conflict in your internet connection, not advised. However, I would recommend a firewall to prevent malware from corrupting your system, I would also recommend medium security settings on your computer.

Nortons should be enough alone, but I always use Mcafee who are also very good.

Having too many does not guarantee your computer safety - stick to your paid anti-virus
