Compare Sharapova & Justine. One is pretty ,the other is not. One is a Giant Russian Female 6'3", the other is a petite 5'3". One grunts & cheats her points, the other not.
Justine won all her matches against Sharapova & very easy, except one. The only time that Sharapova was able to beat Justine was the final of the US open when Justine had to play the whole tour. with an injured back.
I personally think, as much of real tennis critics that Justine is by far the better player than Sharapova, yet tennis fans think Sharapova is the one. Does beauty blinds judging in tennis ?

Beauty blinds judging in much more than tennis. We live in a male-dominated society now and no offense to anyone but males tend to think with other parts besides their brain. And unfortunately, women get the least amount of respect (if any) when it comes to things like sports. That whole double standard issue. This male-dominated society has somewhat brainwashed all of us. Even females.

Ok, so you're saying that Henin is not a cheat, cause if Sharapova can be considered a cheat, Henin is a darn criminal.
Shall I remind you of her match against Clijsters at the Aus Open a couple of years ago... remember the disputed linecall and Henin's roll in having the call overturned... or how about the match against Williams at French... the whole " was her hand up debacle?" So if your looking for a cheat, I just gave it to you...
Oh, and remember that all players suffer from injuries from time-to-time, don't go blaming a loss on injury... Oh now that mention it, isn't that something else that henin does pretty well... Aus open final, Fed cup final, oh and then there's the one you mentioned aswell, it was the fault of her having a sore back that Sharapova served and played a fantastic match to win the US open'06.???
Sharapova ain't my fave player, in fact she's far from it, but if you want to insult her, you're going to have to do better than comparing her with Henin.
(Oh and lastly, could you please add some names of the "critics" that think Sharapova is superior to Henin, cause I feel that there are 2many critics out there rating Henin above Sharapova...)

Henin and Sharapova are both great players. Henin is an established player already. So you would expect her to do well. whereas Sharapova is an up-and-coming new player, even though she is quite established she is only going to get better, she is only 19 years old. Yes, sex sells, which is why Sharapova is a bigger star than Henin. However Sharapova is bringing in not only tennis loving crowds, but all other sorts of young people in, which can only be good for tennis. However tennis ability is the only thing that wins you a tennis match, not beuty.

I think becuz she has won tournaments and grand slams and Sharapova is attractive (I guess) to tennis observers thats why she gets attention. All the commercials she does helps as well, she's is out there more. Its not just a beauty contest... you have to have "game" as well. The combination of the two make Sharapova more of a draw, I guess. Sharapova is a good tennis player, she's not Anna Kournakova??!! But I'd take Justine over Maria and day, any time, any surface.

I agree with you upto a certain point. I'm a fan of both Sharapova and Henin for the very reasons u've mentioned. But still Sharapova has a good game too. She has sacrificed a lot(her childhood, her family et al) to come upto this level. It is only a sheer coincidence that she is beautiful too. But WTA according to me is not all about beauty, even though the organisers look for pretty face all the time to bring in the crowds. But players loke Henin, the Williams sisters are the real tennis winners by virtue of their game power alone.

You are 100% right ! Justine is a far better player than Sharapova, but the media hyped up Maria's ability in tennis based on her beauty. This goes to show how ignorent the media is & us too. Even they made people to think(through brain wash) that Maria has a nice charater/personality, of which i disagree.
We live in a society that people believe in what the media & Hollywood movies make us believe.

line calls have nothing to do with looks...and JHH is a much better all around player than Maria...probably chases down balls much better than anyone in womens tennis...and has great strength considering her size...I dont see where you think beauty has anything to do with it...its just that Justine has been dinged up(injured) pretty good and still played in 10 majors the last 3 seasons winning a handfull of titles and coming in second in almost as many... and for Maui up there, when was society not male dominated?

I don't think that beauty effects thte decisions of a line-judge or chair umpire. They are specially trained to be COMPLETELY impartial. Remeber, there is always an event supervisor watching the match who can correct the umpire for major rule violations or mistakes.
