It's not always considered bad. Professional Baseball teams are always looking for left handed pitchers. But it is bad when a lefty uses a pair of scissors.

In the past it was decided that all children would write with their right hand. What was bad was forcing children to write unnaturally. I can't think of the artist's name but she was extremely talented-singer, writer, and played the piano. She was one of the children that the nuns forced to be right handed. One of her songs talks about the fact that she is OK but just think what she might have been had they not forced her to be right handed. I think 10 to 15 % of all people are left handed-my dad being one of them. He played pro baseball and did pretty well for himself. He was always difficult to get a hit from because his pitches were different. Always celebrate the differences in people. They make the world delightful.

I've read loads of times though, that left handed people die (on average) 9 years sooner than right handed people...

It is only considered bad in certain backwards societies. Here in the west it can be an inconvenience but is never considered bad.

I don't think it is particularly considered bad, but sometimes it doesn't come out handy because all kinds of tools are made for right-handed people.
