I have been told conflicting info about how often to sterilize bottles and breast pumps.
For bottles containing breast milk do they need to be sterilized after each use or just once a day? My baby is 2 months old.

i sterlized bottles after every use because I didn't wash them right away after eating so I was afraid there might be bateria growth. but my pumps I washed them with hot water and soap right after every use and only sterlized them one or twice a day.

If you have a dishwasher, then the high temp will kill germs too.

If you have bad water supply, then yes...if no bad water, then not really. I sterilize my sons bottles only if milk sit in them because bacteria might still be in there and I can't stand the smell that is left behind. But right after your baby is done using a bottle, you should pour out the milk, rinse out the bottle, fill the bottle with very hot water and soap in it, and let it sit until you are ready to wash bottles. This helps and makes it easier to not always having to sterilize bottles after every use(I do this a lot)....but still sterilize every once in a while

My kids wouldn't ever take a bottle. I would sterilize by storage bottles but could never use the milk, they wouldn't take the bottles. I sterilized my breast pump parts every day. I would say, boil the bottles the first time then use the dishwasher after that.

I run the bottles through the dishwasher after each use.... Which works out to once a day because I have 6 bottles and he uses them all during the day. I rinse them out after the feeding and when several are dirty and I have enough dishes to make a semi-full load... I wash them. I have never had any problems and I put my dishwasher to the "heat dry" setting so everything gets super hot! HTH!

I believe that you should sterilize the bottles after every use.
what I do is I usually wash the bottles out first with soap and water, and then I boil them for 20 minutes.

because when you think about it, would you drink or eat something that already had something in it?

If your dishwasher uses hot water then that should be sufficient. If you are handwashing the bottles then I would say you should sterilize them once a day.

I never sterilized...I used the dishwasher. My son never got sick until he was 1 1/2 years old.

I always used to just put them in the dishwasher after each use just like you would do with any other dish.
