Excellent question. A star for you and thumbs down to one reply ;)

Before you judge, try to see it their way. Terrorists see themselves as being in war. The war they see they fight is a justified, impossed war. What is it they want to achieve? Are wars or political presures created by their opponents upon them justified too?

Terrorism as phenomenom of warfare can be defined differently, which is done on political level. One can’t see it as justified or not by itself. Depends on the concrete terrorism.

Americans, whose foreign policy is beyond agressive, see war as part of their ordinary politics. Wars which bring wealth in resources and dominance, do appear justified. They sit in their comfortable office chairs or swimming pools, sniff coke, and send payed soldiers to do the dirty job, while money from military and petroleum lobbies, pours into their private accounts. Thousands of people die because of wars created by USA, every year. Blackhawk down? Who cares, make two.

There is no difference between a terrorist flying a civil airplane toward Alah, from a Charlie Bravo in his F-16 with Mother giving orders, and Charlie Bravo pushing the button and murdering, let’s say, 80 innocent civilians with a bomb. The only difference is that Charlie Bravo will do it again and again, and will go to sleep and have a happy “I obey mama” dream, while terrorists tend to sacrifice their lives. Charlie Bravo would call that collateral damage to his selfproclaimed justified cause of bringing peace and democracy to the world. Terrorists call collateral damages to their cause too. They go to heaven. Both sides kill children. The real question could be how comfortable you are sending your soldiers to kill innocent people, and not expect retaliation…

The problem dealing with terrorists is that they are highly motivated, specially if religiously indoctrinated, and one can’t really deal them the Hiroshima way, or with Agent Orange, Depleted Uranium, Cassette Bombs... The best weapon USA has is media manipulation. Common people hate terrorists and don’t really know from where it comes, but want to do something about it and end up being manipulated. (Comes from their taxes – their pocket, but also gets into their pockets, though sometimes things blow up.)

The USA government even defines terrorism to their own political goal. Terrorists who bring terror to some nation and are defined as terrorists, can be defined as freedom fighters the next day, if that suits some lobbying deal with money coming from the heroine and prostitution business, let’s say.

When your children start having leukemia and numerous other degenerative complications…, when you have people hating each other for the next centuries to come, when your nation is being satanized by the media, your country destroyed and becoming a banana country or a country controled by the radicals, when you know that prolonged suffering will follow you the rest of your life - that is terrorism.

Even worse, when your country knows that a terrorist activity is being prepared, and knows that passenger airplanes are vulnerable and without sheriff, and knows that you can fly a passenger plane in a video game and strike the Tower… and allows it to happen in order to launch a war. Sacrificing own people - that is ultimate terrorism.

It is just war on controled scale.

what a silly question!

the word terrorist denotes someone who intentionally reaps intense fear and horror into the lives of others by targeting the general population of men, women and children in the most cowardly ways possible, in order to attract attention to their causes. causes that are so vague and generalized that they could never be met to begin with.

these suicide bombers are no wiser, no more enlightened and every bit as narcisistic as the followers of jim jones.

we all know they are fed a variety of drugs while being 'trained' to pull a string, are isolated, brainwashed, as well as drugged up again before the assault. plus, they attack with the full knowledge that they won't have to face the consequences of the people they confront.

what is right or, even noble about that?

they have the same 'courage' as the serial killer, the rapist and the child molestor who hangs himself before trial. they resemble the hundreds that lined up to be poisoned in Ghana and nothing more.

though they strike out among us, their cult-driven causes and their very existence is actually no more meaningful than any of the cults that have appeared throughout history, their thinking just as deranged and nonsensical. their leaders the most evil and calculating cowards of all.

rages of terrorism can never be condoned by even the smallest measure of respect, sympathy or, legitimacy for its perpetrators because there is nothing 'right' about their tactics.

huh? look, this is a perspective thing. george washington & his band of merry men (and women) were considered by the british to be terrorists but to the men & women of 1776 - 1787, they were freedom fighters looking for a long-delayed taste of freedom. are terrorists doing the right thing? when you have to kill men, women & little children not really connected to the 'cause' then your sought-after freedom isn't worth the spit it contrives. you've lost before you've won. there are ways you can win without spilling the really innocents' blood. if you have to kill anything in your path so you can achieve your goals then your goals were never anything more than an egoist and his/her selfish ways. i don't want you near me and certainly don't want you on my planet.

I don't support any terrorism, even if they (think) they fight for a good cause. It is just unacceptable to involve innocent people in such a radical way.
