There are various way of making yourself fall asleep. It is possible that your brain is overloaded at the moment and doesn't want you to go into sleep mode so it can sort out your daily life. That's really what sleep is for but if you have been under a lot of stress then your brain may find it cannot cope too well and it is not able to file the thoughts and memories away properly to allow you to sleep.

First suggestion: If you can teach yourself a gently relaxation technique similar to the one outlined in this website, you will greatly benefit. You need the "self-help toolkit".

It doesn't matter if you fall asleep whilst making yourself relax. That is the aim. The more you practise the technique, the easier it becomes to slip into it.

The second suggestion I have is something herbal like herbal teas. Camomile is a good one for relaxing. Avoid the citrus teas if you want to sleep. Cutting out normal tea and coffec altogether could be useful too. Valerian supplementation might also be of use.
Check out this website for more advice.

Have you even tried to lay down and fall asleep? What I do is something relaxing like take a bubble bath and then read a book. Also have you thought about an over the counter sleep aid? I do suggest talking to your doctor if you have tried these things and aren't getting results, as you may have some kind of sleeping disorder.

It's been shown that PC usage deters sleep.....really!

So shut down the PC, lay down in bed, tune your radio to a classic music station at a very low volume, close your eyes and check out the colors and shapes inside your eyes when they're closed.

That should do it. If not, get drunk.
