Most definately! If you question anything concerning your health, get checked out! Its pretty normal to have irregular periods but you should get checked out. Especially since you have a family history of thyroid disease. Good luck!

Don't you hate going to the gyno? I do. But it is definately worth going. You need to get regular pap appoinments even if your periods were regular. While your there it's important to tell him about your irregular periods. I'm sure everything is just fine, but it's worth checking out. It will also help put your mind at ease in the long run. I've always had irregular periods, even now at 32. The only time it was regular was when I was on birth control. I was anorexic as a preteen and teenager, but am not now. It's just irregular periods are normal for me. I did go on seasonale because I do have endometriosis. It wasn't a big deal, they put me on the pill early to regulate my periods, keep them light and it prevented my tubes from scarring and blocking.
There are many different causes of irregular periods, most are not a big deal. But you would hate to find out down the road there was a problem that could've been taken care of a long time ago.
You just have to feel the fear and do it anyway. I wish you all the best!

Pls start with your primary care physician to see what they say. Also, when you had your thyroid tested was it the entire panel (there are 7 tests to it)? Sometimes a thyroid disorder can be missed if a dr looks at just the test results of the TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone).
As for the gyn if you must go start out the appt in plain clothes before doing anything with the exam. When it comes to the exam pls let the dr know that it scares you and try to relax. A really good dr will explain everything that they are doing so that also helps with the relaxing process.
But as I said pls start with your primary care physician.

Ok, I would suggest that this is unusual for someone of your age. Irregular periods can occur when you are pregnant. They can also occur for various other reasons.
You do need to go and see you family doctor or the practice nurse, if there is one.
The gynae appointment can be scary but you can take a friend or family member with you if you would like to. It will not take too long although it can be uncomfortable for a little while afterwards.
If you were anorexic, it's possible this has something to do with this so you really do need that checkup.

You must consult a health expert about your problem. It could either be an endocrinologist or a gynecologist. Don't be scared. They will just run you a protocol exam to rule out the problem. It is better that the problem be checked now instead of waiting for something worse to occur in the future. Your visit to your doctor now could help you get peace of mind, too, because they will know if you'll need treatment or not.

Gyno's are there for our safety. Let doc know when it is uncomfortable. Perhaps something different will happen.
I know ppl who menustrate once or twice a year ONLY!!!! so it may be nothing serious.
Your weight/height seem proportionate (I'm close, but 40y/wise -- not old LOL)
HEY LOOK!!! my body is out of whack, no right pelvis and dislocated hip.......going to a doctor does NOT have to hurt if you tell them about it as you feel it start!

You have late menarche (first period) . This usually means irregular periods. Thyroid problems do cause irregular menses. An endocronologist will clear it up. Don't be afraid of your gynecologist. See her immediately. Nothing to be worried about. Better to know earlier.

Your period can be affected by so many things... your weight, stress, ... almost anything. Some woman never regulate. If you are really bothered by it see your doctor ... some will do a pap and but you on the pill to get things on a "normal" cycle.

hi...dear!
Do not stress your self like this... Just go to the gyno appt.Just get over with it.Most likely it's nothing but if anything you can just handle it now then wait for it to be worse. You already seem to have gone thru alot.
If you do not prefer the gyn u seeing now please choose another... go with a family member or friend to give support.
Try out this web side... it helps!
u take care dear!!!

go and see the doctor it may be nothing but it could be something more serious that should be sorted out right away. If you have had the strength to get thru anorexia and save yourself don't let another issue control you're life. Be safe and well.
