the way to lower sleeping time is to set an alarm or have somebody to wake you up.

You may reduce the time that you sleep at the cost of good health. I know many people in their 60's who wish that they could sleep longer. Some are now getting relief by using a homeopathic preparation called Nux Vomica.
Your body needs time to repair itself from the trauma of previous days. That process will not be properly satisfied by rudely cutting the rest period short.
Now, if you said that you were sleeping 15 hours a day that would be a different problem. Not enough information in your question; the best person to help you might be your GP.

eat lightly after 6pm. digestion takes up a lot of energy. or eating small portions often. basically, eating less is a good way to reduce sleeping requirements.

however, see the new research in today's papers which suggests that if you sleep less than 7 - 8 hours you will have a tendency to put on weight.

happy sleeping!
