First of all, why all the bad ratings for good answers??
You can grease the wheel with vegetable oil, olive oil, or even margerine!We use all three methods in my house .

Apply olive oil to stop in from squeaking. Don't use WD 40 because if your hamster ingests it, it could be fatal.

I find that Pam (oil spray fo cooking) is easier to apply than olive oil. Please dont use WD40 or any other harmful oils (anything with a call poison control center in case of ingestion on its lable).
