I just bought a pet rat from the pet store, but I don't know if it's male or female.
I don't know how to tell males and females apart.
Can someone help????

If you can't tell, then it has to be a female, because male rats have testicles the size of their head. If its a female expect a rat that likes to explore and play, while males are more relaxed, they'll sit still in your lap, but they smell a bit more than females.

People are giving the right answers here, males have a big set of can't -miss-'em testicles under the tail and females have teats (nipples) on their underside (belly).Have fun with your new pet!

Male rats have testicles (and you can't miss them, really), females are just smooth (you can try to look really hard for a hole if you'd like to).

Male rats are very well endowed. You can see this right under the tail.

I can! When I was younger I had two. The boy will have like a small penis looking thing and the girl will have the same just with out the penis part. Hers will be like a little slit.

Yeah, they're right. She's a female. If she were male, you'd know it. There would be no doubt.

Just give it a unisex name and then it won't matter. Seriously, I'm sure the pet store folks can tell them apart.

Then you have a female.

Males have *HUGE*... um... yeah....

So there is no mistaking. If you don't see anything back there its a female.
