Yes, i believe it is bad or wrong to smoke with children in a car because they have no say over it BUT this is just another step for lawmakers to tell Americans what we can or can't do! What's next? No smoking at home? Time limits on how long WE are on the net? Adults may be looking at something that kids souldn't see!!! I am 34 and my parents smoked and i am still fine!!!! Somethings should still be left to parents to control!! Like spanking children! Now.. that's abuse!!!! Kids are getting out of control and with the gov't stepping in telling parents what they can or can't do is making it worse!! The "older" generation on here most likely will agree!!! Smoking IS bad for anyone but let parents be parents and raise their children!!!! Anyway,to fine or punish one for smoking in their car they work to pay for and what alot of us and others have fought in the military for is just the "sound" of our FREEDOM getting "quiet"! THIS IS THE LAND OF FREEDOM!!!!!!!! RIGHT?

So... If we want to punish parents for doing something bad to their kids why don't we punish parents with obese children because obesity is the number one killer, not cigs... It's probably easier to quit smoking than to overcome bad eating habits, get enough exercise, and lose that extra 100 pounds you're packing cause your parents started you out with Coke and chocolate milk and even sugar water in their baby-bottles! I am not kidding - I have seen parents give this stuff to their children. I have seen a one-year old that weighed forty pounds!!!

How about those parents that contribute to their kid's future drug addiction by giving them whiskey or cough medicine to put them to sleep? How about mandatory blood chemistry testing on babies?

The problem is, anyone who needs a law to tell them that smoking in a car with children inside is bad doesn't realize that smoking can kill the children and needs to be watched very closely. You're right, though. It is the land of the free. But, that is being used as an excuse to do whatever someone wants without regards to who is may harm.

The National-Union believes it is the responsibility of the government to protect free-will. This requires citizens to know the limitation of their rights, which is violating other citizens' rights. Citizens should be consciousness about the law and compassionate enough to do what is right. The government can't control a good Samaritan, http://www.voteprimous.com

smoking is a filthy thing to do I'll be glad when tobacco is classified a C1 drug and it declared illegal to smoke period you should try out a product called "nicogel" that way only the user is affected and not the rest of the populous like we are with cigs and 2nd hand smoke

Smoking is COOL. I am going to launch a pro smoking campaign to ban smoking PROHIBITION.
I think squabbling children should be banned from cars, as you are more likly to crash while reaching into the back to smack them.
