That question seems a little vague, do you mean surviving WITHOUT friends and relying on family? Besides that, I think all humans need that "human touch" or connection to survive. I've read some stuff on social interaction, and I'll conclude that our main (but unconscious) goal in life is to have meaningful relationships. Studies have shown that people have a higher risk of heart diseases and can die earlier when they're an "island." Personally, I've ignored my friends for a little over a month (because they got on my nerves), and it's not a good feeling - I was more emotional and I just felt empty. We need people to make us feel valued and to help us grow. I don't know what else to say, but I hope this helped.
