INVALID RESULT
If no red line appears in the upper (Control) region of the Result Window after 3 minutes, the result is invalid and you should repeat the test with another Test Medical Symptoms @Home, Inc. Home Pregnancy Test Device. The device is not reusable. Although the test is highly accurate in detecting pregnancy, a low incidence of false results (positive when no pregnancy exists or negative when pregnancy is present) can occur. Check with your physician if you get unexpected or inconsistent test results. Certain health conditions such as an ovarian cyst or an ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy outside the uterus) can cause a false or irregular result with your test. Oral contraceptives, painkillers, antibiotics and other common drugs do not affect the result of the test.

False negative pregnancy test readings can occur when testing is done too early. Quantitative blood tests and the most sensitive urine tests usually detect hCG shortly after implantation, which can occur anywhere from 6 to 12 days after ovulation. Beta hCG levels rise exponentially in the first two months or so of pregnancy so the earlier the test is performed, the higher the chance of a false negative result. Less sensitive urine tests and qualitative blood tests may not detect pregnancy until three or four days after implantation. Menstruation occurs on average 14 days after ovulation, so the likelihood of a false negative pregnancy test is low once a menstrual period is late.
But, this is under normal circumstances and I'm not really sure if your PCOS is messing with the results or not. The first website I've listed below should help you out and it gives you some telephone numbers to call for more info.
I hope all of this information was able to help you out.

Pregnancy tests look for a hormone called hcg, which is present only when there's a fertilized egg (or when taking very specific fertility drugs.) PCOS won't give a false negative pregnancy test, though it can affect ovulation predictor kits.

It can't give you an incorrect reading but the test may not have been accurate or you may not be far enough along to register a positive on a pregnancy test. Take another one in a week if you still don't have your period.

I believe it can but you would have to check with a doctor either way. If it was negative and you still weren't getting your perios, you would check to be sure. If it comes back positive, you would check to be sure. I do believe that and taking HcG are the only ways to get a false positive.
