I don't want to be sterilised because I may change my mind in the future but right now I don't wantany more kids at least for 10 years, and the idea of taking a pill every day for a decade does not appeal to me.
What is the best form of long term contraceptive? Can you tell me your experiences of having an IUD, an IUS or an Implanon?

I am on the Depo injection. I was on it for 5 years before I had my son and I am now back on it as I don't want another baby for 3-4 years. You have to have it done every 12 weeks, but it is easier than taking the pill every day. The one thing that I like though is that I stop having periods. Not all women are as lucky though.

I have the merina coil in it is a hormone coil it will most likely stop your periods (but not in all cases). Like yourself I was actually offered to have my womb removed at the age of 21 because I had three children inside 3 1/2 years and my periods became very irregular and this and endometreosis was the main reasons for getting my womb removed a such a young age, however I asked what other options I had and my Gynaecologist decided on the above coil. I have had my coil changed once in 12 years and I have never felt better also if I did decide to try for another baby (which I wouldn't) they just remove the coil

If you have ruled out sterilisation, and of course you know the correct form is vasectomy! You have given the other choices coil and implant. Of the two, I tend to recommend the progesterone coil, Mirena. It is much better tolerated than the older, simple copper coils. It is often used as a terminal, meaning final, form of contraception to take a women up to the menopause.
If it suits you, it is low maintenance and safe, needing a 5 yearly change and a yearly check. It is also not permanent and if you decide to have another child it takes a minute to remove.

I could never take the pill due to other medication and always had a coil, they last for 5-7 years depending on which one you get and personally I had no problems (apart from slightly heavier periods), the only down side is getting them fitted, its a bit uncomfortable but only lasts a few minutes. My sister-in-law had implanon and had trouble with mood swings, but everyone is different, best to your doctor or family planning clinic

palms down winner right this is straight forward-the Mirena IUD. positioned it in 8 wk after the toddler is born and dont undertaking approximately for yet another 5 years. you're growing to be to be lighter much less painful sessions and in case you're between the fortunate ones, you wont have a era in any respect. talk on your usual practitioner, maximum women folk in good monogamous relationships are properly suitable for the iud. dont use the shot-until you're keen to settle for the possibility you would be able to bleed on a daily basis for months on end and income 30 pounds. you're growing to be to be recognizing for the 1st few months on mirena yet after that it somewhat is mushy crusing. I even have had one for a 300 and sixty 5 days and that i like it plenty greater advantageous than the pill. additionally i'm a gynecologist so i see all of it

i have the implanon. it lasts for 3 years at a time but you can have it removed earlier if you wish. my sister has the marina coil which is a five year coil and again you can have that removed before if you wish, after all it's your body. anyway both of us are very pleased with our choices and neither of us have experienced any problems what so ever.

here's a link for you, maybe it'll help you decide which ones best for you :

i had implanon inplant for seven months and in that time a gained 2 stone and suffered terribly with mood swings, it did stop my periods completely but had it removed because of the weight gain, but everybody reacts differently to different things, best thing to do is read all the information and try a few to see which best suits you.,
