I have never seen anything that compares to them. Are they meant to be simply entertaining in a trainwreck sort of manner? The ones that I've seen seem to create unnecessary paranoia more than anything.

oh no kidding! I'd hate to offend someone because I know of a lot of women who love those lifetime movies but I hate them....they're cheesy and overdramatic and the women always seem to be such victims......
I refuse to watch them

I think that was because it was hard to stand out among all those cable channels - they made them very over the top. But they've been changing over the past year or so, trying to become cooler and a little less melodramatic.

Their directed audience is for motherly women. And the majority of women like to watch, read, hear, gossip drama. Thus, lifetime is still in business.

I know! I love them. They always end with a woman and a gun!!
Some are actually okay though, my dh has been known to watch a few!

cause, silly, it's for women and we love drama.......my husband always makes fun...he'll say "oh look honey, it's Joanna Kerns and Nancy Mckeon" you must be watching lifetime !!!

seriously though, some are based on true stories, which is kinda sad.................
