Have you ever heard of transcription and translation?

DNA is transcribed into pre mRNA in the nucleus, then the pre mRNA is exported into the cytoplasm, processed to give mature mRNA, which is finally translated into proteins by ribosomes in the RER (a system of membranes in the cytoplasm). Then the proteins are transported wherever they are needed (nucleus, mitochondria, etc)
