Skunks and racoons are nocturnal animals, so it's natural you would mostly see them at night. Skunks live in underground dens, racoons live in trees and ditches.

I can tell you where some skunks hide during the day, underneath my house. I have skunks living under the house. They come out at night at all hours. They must sleep all day.
