THE WORD OF THE DAY IS BOATS!!!!!!!!! I dont think that turtles change colors, it's their protective layering, not a lava lamp.

Turtles or tortoises bodies don't change color, but their shells can as they get older. Word of the day = Spam

it is not so much changing colour as changing the pattern and tones of the shell. It is called mottling
