I am not sure whether it's hated, but I thought people would avoid it or dislike it. I know this is true for certain dialects of Gujarati because to some people, some words may sound like slang so people don't prefer the language. Another aspect might be that the people who speak the language might not be well-mannered and might use quite a lot of bad words; this also gives a language bad name. I think how a language sounds to ears also matters significantly.
