What would adding another year accomplish?
The question should be why would the government not give additional budget for education?
Instead of allocating lots to the military, instead of whining that there are not enough qualified teachers why not hire first those who are qualified and who are still here in the Philippines and not abroad then maybe they can add another year if the want to. Because for me qualified teachers are much important than adding another year/grade
But to answer your question I can think of these as possible answers
1. It would accomplish nothing
2. It means BIG budget because they will have to hire more teachers and build more classrooms.
3. Finally asked the Dep.Ed what happened to their BRIDGE PROGRAM- it's adding a year in high school

Elementary shouldn't add an additional year.

1. It would be costly for the families that can't afford it.
2. One year of elementary will mean a one year delay in getting into high school, college and work.
3. Kids won't learn anything because the quality of teaching is very low.

Instead, DepEd should hire MORE TEACHERS (especially those that recently graduated), employ OJTs who are taking up Education (They work for free!), and most important, give existing teachers LESS WORKLOAD and HOURS.

Bottomline, improve the QUALITY of education for all.

Philippine curriculum has been successful and stable for several decades, and even produces more college grads year after year. Phil. elementary pupils spent more time in school (9-10 hours per day) vs. American setting which is only 6-7 hours per day and early release every Wednesday from most school district.

think about this:
our schools lack facilities, teachers, rooms, books and even a single piece of chalk. why then should they bother arguing on whether add another year or not when they have more pressing problems that need to be resolved asap.

another thing is, answerer no.2 said it very clearly. the high cost of education today would only worsen situation for the really poor ones. many filipinos couldn't afford to enroll or finish their schooling because of economic reasons.

and one more thing, naisip ko lang ( it just occured to me)..sino na ang magfifirst year kung may grade 7?labo no...?

its because most people won't be able to afford to send their children to school a year longer. most of the poor people can't finish schooling because of poverty. so if the government add another year level then the poor may not be able to send their children.
