well. is your computer old and what operating system. im sorry but if you dont know if you need a new computer or not you need to take into consideration that you dont know s#$&! but a computer has 4 major componets... CPU (central Porcessing unit) and that is one of the main aspects to a fast computer... then there is memory... memory is not a hard drive its RAM. and graphics card and sound. and of course a hard drive which is the main memory componet. dy the looks of your computer it was crappy and slow. you most definatly didnt have a removable cpu. so that right there it 150 for a up to date one. then a motherboard can be 50-800 bucks. i reccomand that you either get a now computer or go to a sweet web cite called newegg. www.newegg.com. and by th way i am 15 and i know you must thing i am guessing. but go to best buy. and get a dell they are the best in basic home use. gool luck!

well i will recommend you to purchase a new computer altogether, as ur system specs are too old. if u only do office work and no gaming and videos, then i recommend you to replace ur motherboard with the same model as the previous one.
certainly the cost incurred is much less then purchasing the new one. it depends on the usability pattern of you.

motherboard replacement is not too troublesome, and one can do it at home. but keep one thing in mind. first of all touch some metal part before touching the motherboard. as the charge stored in you due to friction of air is sufficient enough to fry your new motherboard also. so first discharge urself and then touch the new motherboard.

u can find the new motherboard in any of the computer hardware store...

If you want a replacement mobo, here's one:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1559072&CatId=182

But you might as well go for a new cheap computer:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=2727026&sku=G153-GT4024

Make sure you follow Anurag's safety advice. It's good, and I'm too lazy to type same thing in.

But whatever you do, don't listen to chrishdman. Only idiots buy from Newegg. They may have great selection, but crap prices. For good prices, but lower selection, you want TigerDirect.

And besides, his pricings are way off. CPUs are more than 150 but a mobo should not cost you 800. And Dells suck at pretty much everything, and they are very overpriced. But of course, being a "15 year old who loves computers", he should have known that.

But he's right on one thing. Your computer really does suck.

If you have a Frys near you i suggest going to them for help. but honestly you are going to need a new system. This one is out dated for most of todays applications.
