I got my IUD in about a week ago.A few days after I got it I started and have not stopped bleeding. I had very little cramping. So I went online to look up side affects. After reading all the problems people have I am now scared. Has anyone had good sucess with the IUD???? I have three kids and want to wait a while before having my last one. Tried the shot but that was HELL. I can not do the pill cause truth is I will forget. So I felt this was a good option. My doctor who I just love, and delivered my youngest 6 months ago.made it sound great.Should I be worried that I made the wrong choice ?

An IUD is a great form of birth control. I've had one for almost 10 years now (the Mirena) and was a guinea pig for it back in the UK. (Due to have it out soon and am having it replaced now that it's been approved by the FDA)

As with any kind of birth control, it will mess with your hormones for a while until your body gets used to it, and that's more than likely why you're bleeding.
Give it a couple of months and then follow up with your OB-GYN (unless you have an appointment for earlier).

i admire my IUD! that's an surprising decision. I certainly have the Paraguard (copper). i like it because of the fact there are actually not any hormones, no area impacts, not something to bear in mind, and that's sooo effective. additionally, it lasts as much as ten years (the hormone one lasts as much as 5 years, i think of). It became uncomfortable being inserted (yet not painful). I took 600mg of Advil an hour formerly AND my healthcare professional numbed my cervix. I did it 8 weeks postpartum. i actually did not have any area impacts, different than for a pair months of mid cycle bleeding which wasn't a brilliant deal in any respect. additionally, my flow (when I certainly have my era) is a sprint heavier, yet not THAT heavy.

I would speak to your Doc about the bleeding. I had an IUD for several years, felt great when had it taken out to be honest!!! I can also say that after it was out my hubby expressed relief too because the 'cord' had been jabbing him regularly all that time, but he had felt it was rude to mention it as I was handling the contraception! I couldn't tolerate hormonal contraception either but the IUD is a pretty nasty devise and not well tolerated by lots of women.
Good luck
Why not use condoms for a while? Or get your partner to sperm bank and have a vasectomy?

I loved it, it worked great for me. You just have to check that it's in, but you can feel the string. It really is wonderful because you 'insert it and forget it' -- you can check with your doctor about the bleeding. If you don't want this, though, try the patch. You only have to remember once a week and if you have side effects you can just take it off.

Ask your husband to use the condom and if he forgets in the heat of the moment, use the morning after pill immediately. Get that nasty IUD out of you quickly. Some people could tolerate it but obviously it is not for you. Talk to the doctor if needed.

Are you breastfeeding? If yes, check with the doctor about any solution so that the baby is unaffected.
