1) Why you are studying what you are taking in school, what you want to become and why, etc.

2) Who is your role model and why?

3) Local history (i.e. "The Great Fire of 1934" sort of thing).

4) Your hobbies, awards you have won.

5.) Science or health based topics, if you are interested in that sort of thing (i.e. Inform people about Cystic Fibrosis and how they can donate).

6.) Conspiracy theories. Did man REALLY land on the moon in 1969? Who REALLY killed JFK?

7) The role of youth/women/minorities in today's society, etc.

8) Personality traits. How men and women are often different.

9) Topics related to young people, such as teen pregnancy, etc.

10) Religious topics in the news, such as stem cell research (good or bad?).

11) Religions in general: Islam, Christianity, etc.

12) Your cultural/ethnic background and how it is important in your life, or why it should be.

The best topics are the ones that (1) interest you, (2) will interest others, and (3) you are already familiar with.

You could talk about yourself, but I don't know if your life is interesting enough for a six-minute speech.
